It was a sunny April as our PV array continued its stellar performance - 475kWhrs of power generated. We only had 3 or 4 days of heavy clouds. We remain on-track for our minimum annual goal of 4,000 kWhrs of electrical output. This is our 18th year of harvesting the sun's abundant energy - no additional costs after the installation was finished in 1994. When you buy a car, even if you've paid cash for it, you still need to buy gas and oil and maintain it (even air for the tires costs money at some stations). Our electrial power is freely delivered each day without a bill.

I'm using bio- diesel in my 2006 VW Jetta TDI.

In the past, the feed stock was virgin soy bean oil. But in the Portland area, we are fortunate to have a recycling operation that picks up used cooking oil and refines it into biodiesel, and it's up to federal standards - it costs around 5% less. My earlier TDI was registered as BIO BUG. Then came BIO JET. Wouldn't you know that when I started using the Portland facility, my BIO BUG plate had been recycled by the state and it's now on one of their company cars!.

Can't say enough good things about Maine Standard Biofuels.
